Hopefully you have medical insurance when you are diagnosed with cancer. Be sure to read through your policy and make sure all your procedures are covered before they are done. Whatever you do, make sure you stay covered. Pay your bills on time, don't change plans unless getting advice first.

If your insurance denies coverage of certain treatment, begin the appeal process as soon as possible. Review rules to create the best possible case for your appeal, talk to your doctor to recommend treatment covered.

If you are not insured finding medical care will prove to be difficult, but it can be done. Many doctors are sympathetic to uninsured patience and will often set up a payment plan. They may also be able to recommend you for a clinical trial that would pay for all medical related fees. Find out if you are eligible for medicaid or other federal and stated programs for people with low incomes.
