Health Risks | Red Flags | Asbestosis | Lung Cancer | Mesothelioma | Silicosis | Early Detection
Asbestosis is brought about when an individual is exposed to large amounts of asbestos particles that are airborne through mining, or production. Miners and other asbestos related manufacturers are at the highest risks. The body responds to the substance inhaled into the lungs by attacking it, which begins to produce fibrosis.
Your physician will find the fibrosis formation through CT Scan, or Chest X-Ray. Dry cracking noises may also be heard during breathing. During examination, work, and personal exposure history will be assessed, and recorded. In some cases the patient will have no recollection of exposure. If the patient is still being exposed to asbestos, it will be recommended that they immediately be removed from exposure.
