Mesothelioma was first diagnosed in the 1940's and documented in medical journals. Up until the last few years mesothelioma has been known to be fatal and incurable. Patients diagnosed found little or no hope for treatment, and in options for battling their illness. Now options are beginning to surface for mesothelioma patients, however many physicians who aren't trained in the latest research may overlook treatment options.
Mesothelioma is an aggressive malignant tumor that attacks the linings of the heart, lungs, stomach, and sometimes the testicles. Mesothelioma is exclusively diagnosed in individuals exposed to asbestos. If the patient who has been diagnosed with mesothelioma is still in contact with asbestos, it is recommended they be removed from exposure immediately.
