CONGRESSMAN BRUCE F. VENTO
After serving congress for 24 years Congressman Bruce Vento announced his diagnosis of mesothelioma. His diagnosis came after years of asbestos exposure related to several different jobs. After aggressively attacking his cancer with radiation, chemotherapy, and removal of a lung, he lost his battle to the cancer and died October 10, 2000.

STEVE MCQUEEN
The famous life of Steve McQueen took a tragic turn when he was diagnosed with Mesothelioma. The cancer took his life when he was only 50. Steve McQueen related a story at one time about working on a ship in the Marine Corps. He was sentenced to work on the brig, and during this time was assigned to work in the engine room. The pipes were covered with asbestos insulation, which they began removing. He said the air was so thick, he could hardly breathe.
