After you are diagnosed, your physician will begin putting together a treatment plan. This is an excellent opportunity to make sure you are both on the same page, and have the same goal. You may still want to get a second opinion, to make sure all bases are covered.
Sometimes you may get conflicting recommendations from different doctors. If this is the case ask them to explain the reasoning behind their conclusions. Discuss the discrepancies with your primary doctor, he may be able to help make sense of the conflicting information.
You may be faced with choices in treatment, and are feeling the pressure to make a decision in a timely manner. But how much time do you have? The size of the tumor may help you to know how long you have to make a decision. If the cancer is less than 1 centimeter, you probably have a month to consider options. If it's larger, try and make your decision in a few days.
